WORHOF 2016 OUTDOOR HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE-Marty Hogan (The second inductee
for the class of 2016)

Thanks to WORHOF, WOR and the outdoor racquetball community, it is a
distinct honor to announce the addition of one of racquetball's most famous
players--Marty Hogan into the Outdoor Racquetball Hall of Fame. Marty Hogan
joins Craig "Clubber" Lane in the legendary class of 2016. This talented
group includes probably two of the hardest hitting players in outdoor
history. Thus, the racquetball community has now officially and
appropriately dubbed this class...the year of  "Powerball."

According to his biography in Wikipedia, "Marty Hogan has an unparalleled,
forty year career winning professional racquetball tournaments both indoors
and outdoors. Marty has won more pro titles than any other player in history
with over one hundred and fifty combined pro tournament victories. He won
his first professional tile in 1975 at in Burlington, Vermont at the NRC New
England Pro Am defeating Brumfield, Serot and Keeley the three top ranked
players in the world in succession. Hogan had the greatest year in the
history of pro racquetball--Marty went undefeated from September of 1978 to
November of 1979 while winning the Pro Nationals, the Outdoor National, the
Paddleball Nationals and the Pro Doubles Nationals with Steve Mondry. The
single season Grand Slam is an unequaled accomplishment to this day."

Marty Hogan has a well-documented "ironman" history in outdoor racquetball
having played in the very first outdoor national championships in the
pro/open singles division back in 1974 as a 16 year old. Yet, even to this
day, he still continues to promote the sport with his incredible
showmanship, sportsmanship and talent showing up yearly at many outdoor
national competitions.  During his storied career which covers five decades,
Marty Hogan has won 13 major outdoor championship titles. However, possibly
his most greatest victory (and one for the ages) took place in 2015 with Joe
Young where Marty at 58 years "young" captured the heart and soul of the
racquetball community by winning the Florida Ektelon Long Wall Pro Doubles
Championships.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place Saturday afternoon on
July 09, 2016 at WOR Championships Huntington Beach, CA at the Marina Park.
It will done "outdoor style" where plays stops for about an hour and the two
inductees Marty Hogan and Clubber Lane get to accept their award in their
racquetball shorts as only outdoor racquetball could do.

Marty was graciously nominated by Scott Hirsch and fellow outdoor/indoor
Hall of Famer Charlie Brumfield by an unanimous vote into the Hall. The Hall
of Fame committee is made up of Brett Elkins, chair/founder of the Outdoor
Hall of Fame; Hank Marcus, Executive Director; Greg Lewerenz and all past
inductees--20 time national pro singles champ Brian Hawkes; the legendary
doubles team of Martha and Greg McDonald ; the founders and early champions
Bob Wetzel and Barry Wallace; our sports first true superstars Charlie
Brumfield and Dr. Bud Muehleisen; and the greatest one wall player in
history Robert "Iceman" Sostre and his dominant national award winning
partner/Restrung Magazine founder Freddy Ramirez and now Craig "Clubber"
Lane. All past inductees can and have voted for future nominees.
