(The first inductee for the class of 2016)

On behalf of WORHOF, WOR and the outdoor racquetball community, it is a distinct honor to announce the inclusion of one of racquetball's most storied candidates--Craig Lane into the Outdoor Hall of Fame. Possessing the game's greatest nickname, Craig "Clubber" Lane is arguably the hardest hitting outdoor player in racquetball history. With pro national championships spanning four glorious decades and 18 Major Pro National titles, Craig Lane has captured the hearts and imagination of outdoor fans everywhere with his incredibly talent, athleticism, discipline and determination. Of course, "sporting" a Ph.D. in Kinesiology hasn't hurt his career either coming in handy on and off the court.

Craig Lane career is decorated and distinct. He holds multiple major pro outdoor titles and his list of partners reads like an outdoor record book--notable greats including Brian Hawkes, Cliff Swain, Rhonda Rajsich, Greg Solis and Jesus Ustarroz. In fact, Craig is the only player in outdoor history to win three different majors consecutively with two different partners. Craig is one of those rare breed who started playing at the outdoor national championships as a young 8 year old and having success at a very early age. Equally impressive, Craig is famous for his racquetball contributions off the court too and he is well-known for volunteering at countless events without ever being asked to help. Craig is popular with the fans and well known for his outstanding fair play and sportsmanship on and off the court.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place Saturday in the afternoon on July 11, 2016 at WOR Championships Huntington Beach, CA at the Marina Park. It will done "outdoor style" where plays stops for about an hour and the two inductees get to accept their award in their racquetball shorts as only outdoor racquetball could do. He will be joined by a second famous player bringing a whole new meaning in 2016 to the word "Powerball."

Craig was graciously nominated by a close friend Mike Coulter with an unanimous vote into the Hall. The Hall of Fame committee is made up of Hank Marcus, Executive Director; Greg Lewerenz, National Director; Brett Elkins, chair/founder of the Outdoor Hall of Fame and all past inductees--20 time national pro singles champ Brian Hawkes; the legendary doubles team of Martha and Greg McDonald ; the founders and early champions Bob Wetzel and Barry Wallace; our sports first true superstars Charlie Brumfield and Dr. Bud Muehleisen; and the greatest one wall player in history Robert "Iceman" Sostre and his dominant national award winning partner/Restrung Magazine founder Freddy Ramirez .

Craig is married with two children's and continues to be a force in pro outdoor racquetball in his mid-40's.
